As we addressed in our last blog post, this weekend there are a ton of things happening in the Coachella Valley, especially in Palm Springs.
For starters, there is the Palm Springs International Film Festival! That, as we all know, is a star-studded event. Full of celebrities, fans of celebrities, pre-parties, after parties, red carpets, sold out shows, and film debuts.
There are many events happening that are spawns of the Film Fest, all of which are very cool and film related – however, there are a fffeeewwww other events in town that have little-to-nothing to do with the festival for all those looking for a sweet escape.
School Night & Ace Hotel’s Summer School / Winter Weekender is our pick of choice this weekend.
We love this event because it’s perfect for all those who may be getting a little antsy after surviving multiple movie screenings in a row (I know I’m guilty of that).
We also love that this event is open to EVERYONE and is ALL AGES! Plus, you get to hang out and do cool art projects with rad artists. And, on top of all that, listen to good music by the pool. Now, that’s what I call #PalmSpringsLivin.

“Illustrating with Florencio Zavala”

Florencio worked with famous artist, Shepard Fairey, for over 10 years. He started out as his design intern and eventually made his way to be the Associate Creative Director of Fairey’s design studio, Studio Number One. Since then, he has gone on to do a bunch of other really cool work (pieces demonstrated below).
Zavala has a signature style that we love and are drawn to (pun intended). His artwork can be found on the cover and insides of magazines on your bookshelves, on the clothes in your closet, or uploaded on to your most visited websites.
For this reason, and many more, are why we are so excited to get illustration lessons from him!
Looking forward to never having my doodles look the same ever again….
